✨ Welcome Back ✨
π Bible Study Notes: Leviticus 14:1–20 (Part I)
✍️ By JK Woodall---
Leviticus 14:1–2 (NKJV)
> 1️⃣ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
2️⃣ “This shall be the law of the leper for the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest.”
π Not a law for curing leprosy, but for confirming healing.
π¨⚖️ The process starts with priestly examination — a public acknowledgment of restoration.
✝️ When Jesus told the ten lepers in Luke 17:14 to “Go, show yourselves to the priests,” He was referencing this law, fulfilling Matthew 5:17.---
Leviticus 14:3 (NKJV)
> “And the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall examine him; and indeed, if the leprosy is healed in the leper…”
π️ The priest goes outside the camp to meet the outcast — a picture of Jesus who meets us in sin (Hebrews 13:12–13).
π©Ί Healing wasn’t enough — the priest had to declare the person clean.
π Foreshadow: Jesus as our High Priest (Hebrews 4:14) who declares us clean before God.---
Leviticus 14:4–7 (NKJV)
> Two living and clean birds ππ, cedar wood πͺ΅, scarlet π§΅, and hyssop πΏ…
Prophetic Connection to the Cross ✝️
Two Birds π⚰️π: One dies = Christ’s death (1 Peter 3:18). One released = resurrection freedom (Romans 6:4; John 8:36).
Cedar Wood πͺ΅: Incorruptible, points to the Cross (Acts 2:27).
Hyssop πΏ: Cleansing (Psalm 51:7), also used at the Cross (John 19:29).
Scarlet π§΅: Blood of atonement (Isaiah 1:18).
Blood + Running Water π©Έπ§: John 19:34 — blood & water flowed from Jesus’ side.
Earthen Vessel πΊ: Christ’s humanity (Philippians 2:7).
Seven Sprinklings 7️⃣: Complete cleansing (Hebrews 10:14).
π This entire ritual is a prophetic picture of Calvary.---
Leviticus 14:8 (NKJV)
> Wash clothes π, shave hair ✂️, wash body π¦…
π§Ό Washing & shaving = removing old life (2 Corinthians 5:17).
π️ Restored to the camp, but not yet home — restoration is step by step.
π Like Naaman (2 Kings 5), cleansing came by obedience.---
Leviticus 14:9 (NKJV)
> Shave all hair ✂️, wash clothes π, wash body π¦…
π Complete reset.
7️⃣ Seventh day = completion.
8️⃣ Prepares for new beginnings.---
Leviticus 14:10–11 (NKJV)
> On the 8th day bring offerings ππΎπ’️ before the Lord at the Tabernacle ⛺.
8️⃣ = New beginning, resurrection hope.
π Restoration leads to worship & offering.---
Leviticus 14:12–13 (NKJV)
> Trespass offering π + oil π’️ presented in a holy place.
⚖️ Trespass = dealing with specific wrongs.
⛪ Cleansing = sacred and holy before God.---
Leviticus 14:14 (NKJV)
> Blood π©Έ on ear π, thumb π, toe π¦Ά.
π Ear = cleansed hearing.
π Thumb = cleansed actions.
π¦Ά Toe = cleansed walk.
✨ Mirrors priestly consecration (Exodus 29:20).---
Leviticus 14:15–16 (NKJV)
> Oil π’️ sprinkled 7️⃣ times before the Lord.
π Oil = Holy Spirit.
7️⃣ = Perfect, complete renewal.---
Leviticus 14:17–18 (NKJV)
> Oil π’️ placed on ear π, thumb π, toe π¦Ά, and poured on head π§.
π‘ Oil on top of the blood = Spirit rests on Christ’s sacrifice.
π Oil on the head = full consecration & blessing.---
Leviticus 14:19–20 (NKJV)
> Sin offering π + burnt offering π₯.
➡️ Priest declares: “He shall be clean.”
π©Έ Sin offering = removes separation.
π₯ Burnt offering = total surrender.
π Full welcome back into community & God’s presence.---
π Application Points
1️⃣ The Cross was hidden in the Law — every detail points to Jesus. ✝️
2️⃣ Restoration is complete — God cleanses hearing π, actions π, walk π¦Ά.
3️⃣ Obedience activates restoration — like Naaman & the ten lepers. π
4️⃣ Blood + Oil = Forgiveness π©Έ + Empowerment π’️.---
π Declaration
π©Έ I am cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
π I am anointed by the Spirit of God.
πππ¦Ά My hearing, actions, and walk are consecrated to Him.
π I have been welcomed back — fully restored in Christ!
