Leviticus 18 part II Bible Study Notes

Leviticus 18:18–30 Part II — “False Kings and National Corruption”

KJV with New Testament Connections

Leviticus 18:18 (KJV)

“Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.”

Study Note:

God protects harmony in marriage. Rivalry and relational disorder lead to domestic instability.

NT Connection – 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace…”

Leviticus 18:19 (KJV)

“Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.”

Study Note:

Intimacy is governed by respect and self-control. Holiness applies even within marriage.

NT Connection – 1 Thessalonians 4:4 (KJV)

“That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;”

Leviticus 18:20 (KJV)

“Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.”

Study Note:

Adultery corrupts covenant trust and defiles more than two people — it damages families and communities.

NT Connection – Hebrews 13:4 (KJV)

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

Leviticus 18:21 — The Turning Point

Leviticus 18:21 (KJV)

“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.”

Who is Molech?

The Hebrew word Molek is closely related to melek, meaning king. Many believe the biblical writers altered the pronunciation to resemble a word meaning shame — possibly as a form of mockery.

Molech worship involved child sacrifice, often associated with the:

Valley of Hinnom

This valley later became known as Gehenna, a term Jesus used to describe final judgment.

NT Connection — Matthew 5:22 (KJV)

“…shall be in danger of hell fire.”

“Hell” here is Gehenna — the same valley once defiled by child sacrifice.

Spiritual Lesson:

When people worship false kings, they sacrifice their future.

Molech represents:

Idolatry over covenant

Culture over command

Prosperity over legacy

False kings over the true King

This is why Molech appears in the middle of sexual corruption laws — it represents the ultimate collapse of family protection.

NT Warning — 1 Corinthians 10:20 (KJV)

“The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God…”

Behind false worship is spiritual deception.

Leviticus 18:22 (KJV)

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”

Study Note:

God defines sexual order according to creation design, not cultural preference.

NT Connection – Romans 1:26–27 (KJV)

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections…”

Leviticus 18:23 (KJV)

“Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith… it is confusion.”

Study Note:

God distinguishes humanity from animals. Moral confusion distorts divine order.

NT Connection – 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 (KJV)

“Be not deceived… shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

National Consequences

Leviticus 18:24 (KJV)

“Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:”

Study Note:

These sins defile individuals and entire nations.

NT Connection – Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

“Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Leviticus 18:25 (KJV)

“And the land is defiled… and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.”

Study Note:

Persistent corruption results in expulsion. Sin has territorial consequences.

NT Connection – James 1:15 (KJV)

“Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Leviticus 18:26–27 (KJV)

“Ye shall therefore keep my statutes… (For all these abominations have the men of the land done…)”

Study Note:

Holiness is not optional. Covenant privilege does not excuse disobedience.

NT Connection – Romans 6:23 (KJV)

“For the wages of sin is death…”

Leviticus 18:28 (KJV)

“That the land spue not you out also…”

Study Note:

Israel is warned: You are not immune.

NT Connection – 1 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV)

“Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.”

Leviticus 18:29 (KJV)

“For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations… shall be cut off…”

Study Note:

Sin severs covenant fellowship.

NT Connection – 2 Thessalonians 1:9 (KJV)

“Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord…”

Leviticus 18:30 (KJV)

“Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance… I am the LORD your God.”

Study Note:

The chapter ends where it began — covenant identity.

Holiness is protection, not oppression.

Major Teaching Emphasis

• False worship corrupts families

• Sexual disorder destabilizes nations

• Sin defiles land and legacy

• Covenant obedience preserves blessing

Central Spiritual Truth:

When people worship false kings, they sacrifice their future.
