There is a growing trend within modern Christianity that seeks spiritual experiences while rejecting spiritual structure. Many desire authority without accountability, power without submission, and manifestations without alignment.

The Bible provides a powerful warning concerning this mindset through the account of Nadab and Abihu in Leviticus 10. These sons of Aaron offered what Scripture calls "strange fire" before the Lord—fire that God had not commanded. Their actions reveal an important truth: not every fire that appears spiritual originates from God.

The danger of fake fire is that it often looks authentic. It may contain religious language, spiritual enthusiasm, and even sincere intentions. Yet sincerity alone does not make something holy. God's presence has always been connected to His order.

One of the greatest challenges facing believers today is not necessarily open rebellion but subtle separation. Some have convinced themselves that they no longer need the church. Others claim they can maintain a strong spiritual life apart from fellowship, accountability, and corporate prayer. Still others have become so consumed by work, entertainment, business, and personal responsibilities that assembling with God's people has slowly disappeared from their lives.

The enemy understands the power of isolation. A coal removed from the fire eventually loses its heat. Likewise, a believer disconnected from fellowship becomes vulnerable to deception, discouragement, and spiritual drift.

Scripture instructs believers not to forsake assembling together (Hebrews 10:25). This command is not merely a religious obligation; it is divine wisdom. God designed the church to be a place of encouragement, correction, growth, prayer, and protection.

When believers separate themselves from the body while continuing to pursue spiritual authority, they enter dangerous territory. They may seek to engage in spiritual warfare while neglecting the very relationships and structures God established for their protection. They may desire to cast out demons while refusing to pray with fellow believers. They may pursue spiritual encounters while resisting accountability.

This is the modern danger of fake fire.

True fire produces humility. True fire values fellowship. True fire welcomes correction. True fire remains connected to God's people and God's order.

Fake fire, however, seeks spiritual influence without spiritual alignment.

The Lord is not merely looking for passionate believers. He is looking for obedient believers. The same God who sends fire also establishes altars. Throughout Scripture, His power flowed where His order was honored.

As the Church moves forward in these challenging times, believers must be careful not to mistake isolation for maturity or busyness for purpose. The call of God remains the same: gather, pray, worship, grow, and remain connected to the body of Christ.

The question is not whether there is fire.

The question is whether the fire came from God.

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another..." (Hebrews 10:25).
